White Oaks and Arundel Schools are Full.

July 5, 2008 San Carlos Schools No Comments

Wow….here’s a shocker.  According to this article in the Redwood City Daily News, the recent jump in the number of grade school children in San Carlos is stretching the capacity at a couple of our schools.  Consequently, some families living in the White Oaks School boundary may end up going to Brittan Acres next year.   Arundel is facing the same problem, and their overflow will end up at Heather School.     Here’s the article from the Daily News:

San Carlos Schools Hit Growth Spurt

This will obviously come as distressing news for some families who have counted on attending one of these schools.  San Carlos is no different than communities like Cupertino, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto where families often put the school district at the top of their home search criteria, even ahead of the size or style of the home.    Imagine going through the battle (and I do mean battle) of winning a home in White Oaks, only to find out that you’re not going to White Oaks Elementary after all…

The great news here is that ALL of the schools in San Carlos are outstanding.  Brittan Acres and Heather are absolutely on par with the others (we’ve put all three of our kids through B.A. and couldn’t be happier with it.)  So from an education standpoint, there’s really no back seat in this situation.
