The City of San Carlos announced this week that they have broken off discussions with the San Carlos School District regarding the long-term use of Heather Field. Here’s a comprehensive article in the San Mateo Daily Journal that has all the details:

City Cuts Talks Short

The result of this development is that the already critical shortage of playing fields in San Carlos will only become more severe in the near-term. With Heather no longer on the list of available fields, don’t be surprised if your child-athlete is put on a waiting list for upcoming seasons since there will very likely won’t be enough fields to handle the number of teams who want to use them. Sadly, this will be a first in San Carlos. While the City will scramble to find an alternate solution, this will not be an overnight fix.

The anti-turf camp may have won their battle, but the whole city has lost big time…regardless of which side of the turf wars you were on.
